The vision of Sound Expeditions is to create a soundtracked city in which spaces and places both familiar and unfamiliar take on a new layer of meaning and experience. Sound Expeditions documents site-based sound art and composition. The commissions pair sites and composers for the creation of new site-specific compositions in Indianapolis. To date the project includes compositions from over twenty musicians including Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw. Sound Expeditions was also part of a National Science Foundation funded project called StreamLines. An exhibition of the completed Sound Expeditions project will be on display at the Indiana State Museum in mid-2017. The project has been featured on Next City.
